“ Basikasingo or Buyu figurine.
Fetish intended for a personal use which had a magical load at the level of the hairdo, it probably represents a royal ancestor.
It was either carried or placed on a stand.
The piece was collected by the Jesuit Fathers of Hervelee in the twenties/thirties.
In addition, this ancient figurine presents all the qualities required by collectors who seek an ancient object, furthermore, it is a very particular item.
We can easily suppose that the Jesuit Fathers removed the magical load... contrary to the Catholic religion, however, they were impressed by the beauty of this fetish that presents all the canons of beauty, of the large size BUYU representations, which are nowadays placed in beautiful collections or in museums.
