African ebony Oware game of wood and bonduc seeds (nickernuts)
Foldable game board of ebony, assembled with iron hinges and old tacks. Each half has 6 round recesses (12 in total) and the game is played with 2 x 24 seeds (berries, pebbles, shells, etc.). This centuries-old sowing and harvest game for 2 people was already played in ancient Egypt. It is known throughout West-Africa under dozens of different names, such as oware, wari, abape, awale and mancala. The rules of the game can be found on www.oware.org. This object is from Ghana, and is entirely crafted by hand and is decorated on both sides with a beautifully carved bird.

Condition: is in very good condition and is complete with all the seeds.
Cut out of two pieces of tropical ebony, secured with simple hinges. The photos are an addition to the description of the lot.
