Jules Jürgensen was born in Le Locle (Switzerland) on 27 July 1808. When Jürgensen was 15 months old, his parents returned to Denmark. In Copenhagen, Jürgensen was trained in the watch company of his father and also studied mathematics, astronomy and foreign languages. After the death of Urban, Jürgensen took over the factory with Louis Urban. Jules Jürgensen began a study trip to London, Paris, Geneva and Le Locle in 1834. In 1835, he opened a watch factory in Le Locle, a branch office of his father's shop in Copenhagen. In 1872, Jürgensen retired from the business and handed it over to his son Jules Frédéric Urban. He died on 17 December 1877 in Geneva. Solid and heavy gold savonette from the factory of one of the best watch manufacturers! Fine Roman indices. Small, recessed second above the six, blued hands - very fine. Marked on the dust lid (also made of 18 kt gold) with Jules Jürgensen COPENHAGEN no. 8198. Manufacturer's movement with unique superstructure from the factory of Jules Jürgensen. Also signed on the movement with Jules Jürgensen Copenhagen no. 8198. Absolute collector's value. A top watch from a master watchmaker of his time. Timepiece diameter: 53 mm without crown - 76 mm with pedant. Weight: 122 g, manufactured around 1870 Winding key is present.
