Fu Lu Shou, three Chinese polychrome painted porcelain statues of the three wise men - China - 2nd half 20th century

Fu Lu Shou are the three Chinese gods of fortune. Their statues and images can be found in nearly every non-Christian Han Chinese family. The worship of these three gods dates back to the Ming dynasty. The placement of the statues of Fu, Lu and Shou can change the feng shui of a home/room according to believers. The three star gods, Shou (or Shou Lao, the 'Old Shou') can be recognised by the high bald head: the god of longevity. He often holds a peach in his hand or is in the company of a deer. Both are symbols of a long life as well. Lu, the largest of the three and usually dressed in a rich, red robe, symbolises prosperity, success and wealth. Fu, usually dressed in a sober green robe and holding a fan or child in his hand, symbolises good fortune. Size: 25/15/15 cm. Total weight: 4,600 grams. All three are in good to acceptable condition (Lu misses some spheres on the crown), see photo 16.
