Everything I bought so far did not disappoint me except this ring. The image seemed far superior. Best regards
Maria DurãoThis is actually disheartening, I realise some items look better on the pictures and sometimes the camera isn't able to capture the beauty of the item at all, but I had personally had considered the picture to be quite well done, it is never my intention to mislead the buyers with it. I hope you don't mind if I send a few more questions as an additional feedback through mail, since this is an important issue for me.
The earings give a false impression of being
quite big but in real life are minute so photograph & description are misleadingLately we have been using a macro lens so the customers could see the actual gems up close for their actual condition and evaluate it better, but it seems somehow that this is backfiring instead and giving a wrong impression for which I am actually sorry. I can't agree with your comment on the description being misleading though, cause it literally explains this in these exact words: "We use macro lens to see the imperfection on the stone surface as close as possible, the measurements above represent the actual size."
I was astonished by the high shipping costs, especially for such a small item.As you should be, the costs are indeed high and I must actually thank you for this chance to explain in the open why.
I believe I might have already mailed you about this after the purchase, but I hope you don't mind as I steal this comment section to actually warn potential buyers as well. Any of my items with a projected price of 200€ or higher is always only sent with insurance, as much as it means advantages on some fronts, it also means that the shipping price will be higher, but I have seen plenty packages getting opened/stolen/lost during customs/left at neighbours or even resold on eBay the last 2 years to know better that not take an insurance.
I have asked administration of Catawiki repeatedly either I could agree with buyers to sign a document transferring liability so they could chose themselves to pay less for simple signed shipping instead, which would have costed you €15,24 or €16,40 in Belgium without package costs by the way (https://parcel.bpost.be/en/create-label), but this doesn't go well with their guidelines and is thus prohibited until further notice.
You have paid a price of €29,90 there is no going around it, this is a high price and I can see how it doesn't might make sense to you, who only paid for €160 for the earrings, but we have actually paid €41 for shipping it to United Kingdom with Fedex and €6.5 extra for a separate insurance since theirs does not allow one for items of gold or jewellery with Fedex( same for UPS and DHL simply refuses to transport gold or jewellery at all). This can be found in section 18.4 under http://www.fedex.com/gb/services/terms
The only way we can insure the item always arrives on time or the buyer gets paid back immediately upon a loss of the delivery is by doing overpaying and splitting the cost of the delivery with the buyer, which sadly enough has already proven itself worthy in 2017. The shipping costs for your earrings fell in the 200€ target zone before submitting it to Catawiki, since we expected that would be the actual price it would sell at. It didn't feel right to upload your invoice here, due to private information provided on it, but feel free to request it through mail and have the picture on top as a summary meanwhile.
I hope I was able to enlighten you a bit more on this issue as well as remind to check anyone else shipping costs before placing a bid, there is a very good chance they will be higher than what you expect. Unlike what people think they sellers actually read these feedback sections beyond looking at the % rating the get, I will always prefer a negative feedback with a constructive opinion against a silent +1. Sorry again for stealing your feedback.
PS for everyone else, if you are from Romania, we have been experiencing horrible problems on any insured shipping in February an March so be warned.
I would like to know if it possible to send back this necklace ? Can you tell me what the possibilities are?
Miss BalustDear Miss Balust, unlike what people think we don't actually have that many rights when it comes to purchases or returns since Catawiki is the actual seller, when it comes to these kind of problems they are the ones that have the final say in what we do. Nevertheless I requested our senior jeweller to look into your request from this feedback yesterday, but I might have an unfavourable answer for you already since it seems that 2 weeks after the delivery already passed, the administrative paperwork was finished and we got paid out by Catawiki this Wednesday 01/03, usually as long as this is not done there is at least a chance to do something about it.
